I use to ask this question to me & most often the answer I got was NO. Probably, because I am too optimistic about my life. Then, I realized that any mishap is not going to inform me before coming, if something really happens, then what will happen to my responsibilities. Who is going to take care of my family?
Actually, I am a very common individual who believe in living aaj rather than spending money for securing tomorrow. I realized these things when a incident happened with me. One of a person, living in my locality died in an accident. As we all know, in India, even rituals are quite expensive. The family of the guy was under huge sorrow, relatives gathered around. Now, relatives, friends kept coming , there was hardly space remained in his house. They have to asked for chairs from a local vendor, tea & snacks for people who came there. I was close to their family, so was with them. They were not only sad but also concerned about the future of their children. There were still EMI’s to be paid on their home loan, car loan & few other expenses.
People were busy in arranging various things ,each time they required anything ,they were asking for money. Then, the matter of 13th day ceremony came across, which include big gathering of people, arranging things for them, food etc. Now, again money is required for all these things.
The condition of deceased’s wife was absolutely miserable. She was facing the huge challenge of looking after the responsibility of her family, house, & other needs. she use to ask only one question “ what will happen to my children.?”
We all were trying hard to console her but nobody had any answer to her question. The question of her house , children’s education, & future.
Then, a guy came to inquire about deceased. We thought it might be some other friend or relative. He asked for the wife of deceased. He introduced himself as the employee of a private life insurer. He told him that, her husband has recently taken a policy for saving purpose & was thinking to gift it at her birthday. That why, he opted his office address as communication address & kept it as secret.
The news of this policy came as the sun in her life. At least, she was sure that now she can manage all these activities, pay the dues & can plan for her children’s future. I came home, my condition was terrible. Then, I realized, what I said earlier.
I think we need to insure ourselves with proper amount, so that, in case of any mishap, at least we don’t leave our family in a terrible position.
